Additional Information

Agency Name: Geological Survey
Description: U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Next Generation Water Observing System (NGWOS) Program is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU Partner for research on imagery-based methods to measure streamflow. The application of image velocimetry-based monitoring methods, such as Large-scale Particle (LSPIV) and Space-time (STIV), that integrate image analysis and artificial intelligence techniques is of interest to NGWOS. These methods have been deployed by NGWOS at over 50 sites so far and have proven to be effective, but limited depending on sunlight conditions, surface reflections, presence of fog, rain and camera angle/field of view. Under such conditions, flow field reconstruction from image-based velocimetry may become sparse or have lower quality.
