The Bureau of Reclamation is providing additional funding for the Arroyo Canal Fish Screen and Sack Dam Fish Passage Project. This grant is specifically for modifications to Sack Dam and the Arroyo Canal, as mandated by the San Joaquin River Settlement. The primary purpose is to enhance anadromous fish migration by preventing their entrainment in the Arroyo Canal through a new fish screen and ensuring reliable fish passage at Sack Dam across diverse flow conditions. The scope of work encompasses crucial environmental planning, obtaining necessary permits, and comprehensive appraisal-level and final engineering design. This vital initiative supports ongoing efforts under the San Joaquin River Restoration Settlement Act to restore and protect fish populations, ensuring long-term ecological benefits in the region.
