The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is offering this grant to support ancillary studies that leverage existing subject cohorts from major Type 1 Diabetes clinical research initiatives. This grant is specifically designed to facilitate scientific discoveries by utilizing participants enrolled in, or screened for, the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet network, or those from the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT)/Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC). The primary purpose is to advance understanding of disease mechanisms, pathogenic processes, and identify biomarkers related to disease progression, clinical responses, or complications of type 1 diabetes. Please note, this funding opportunity does not support clinical trials focused on efficacy endpoints, such as C-peptide preservation.
