The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) is offering a grant to significantly improve the training and education of historical editors. This grant aims to support the establishment or enhancement of institutes, covering both basic and advanced levels of historical editing. The program specifically targets organizations, not individuals seeking personal development. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, colleges, universities, state or local government agencies, and federally-acknowledged or state-recognized Native American tribes or groups. A single grant, up to $275,000 for one to three years, is anticipated. Applicants must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and acknowledge NHPRC support in all resulting publications.

Description: | The National Historical Publications and Records Commission seeks proposals to improve the training and education of people training to be or working as historical editors. The Institute for Historical Editing can consist of both basic and advanced institutes. For a comprehensive list of the Commissions limitations on funding, please see What we do and do not fund (http://www.archives.gov/nhprc/apply/eligibility.html). A grant normally is for one to three years and up to $275,000. The Commission expects to make one grant in this category, for a total of up to $275,000. The Commission requires that grant recipients acknowledge NHPRC grant assistance in all publications and other products that result from its support. * Nonprofit organizations or institutions with IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt status * Colleges, universities, and other academic institutions * State or local government agencies * Federally-acknowledged or state-recognized Native American tribes or groups Applicant organizations must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) prior to submitting an application, maintain SAM registration throughout the application and award process, and include a valid DUNS number in their application.
