The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) is offering this grant to secure America’s energy future through sustainable bioenergy. This grant is for supporting the development of regional systems for bioenergy and biobased products that reduce dependence on foreign oil, ensure positive social, environmental, and rural economic impacts, and remain compatible with existing agricultural systems. The long-term outcome aims to implement regional systems delivering liquid transportation biofuels, helping meet the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007 goal of 36 billion gallons/year by 2022 and further reduce national reliance on foreign oil.
