The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) is offering this grant to continue its Collaborative Initiative on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (CIFASD). This grant is for researchers to address urgent and important unmet needs in the FASD field through an integrated, multidisciplinary research approach. Specific goals include improving early and accurate identification of FASD cases, developing better interventions to mitigate FASD outcomes, expanding basic and mechanistic understanding of alcohol teratogenesis for accelerated translation, and reducing prenatal alcohol exposure and the incidence of FASD. Cooperative Agreement applications should propose individual clinical or basic research projects focused on these critical areas to advance the understanding and management of FASD.
