This NIJ grant is for the purpose of establishing a National Criminal Justice Technology Research, Test, and Evaluation (RT&E) Center. This new center, integrated within the existing NIJ-funded NLECTC System, will serve as a vital hub for advancing technology in the criminal justice sector. Its core function will be to conduct rigorous RT&E activities, specifically aimed at informing NIJ’s non-forensic technology research and development initiatives. Furthermore, the center will be instrumental in supporting NIJ’s efforts to disseminate critical information to a wide audience, including practitioners, policymakers, and researchers. Through these activities, the grant aims to improve criminal justice policy and practice by enhancing the field’s understanding and application of relevant technologies and technology-related issues.
