This grant is for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to undertake comprehensive gray wolf management and monitoring in Wyoming following their delisting on September 30, 2012. The Department, having sole management authority for wildlife, is uniquely qualified to maintain the wolf population above recovery goals. Funds will support managing wolves to exceed recovery criteria, continuous population monitoring, and direct control of problem wolves. It also covers regulating public wolf take, conducting research, and coordinating outreach activities. An annual report on the wolf population status will be prepared for submission to the Service, ensuring effective long-term management of Wyoming’s wolf population.

| Description: | The Service delisted wolves in Wyoming on September 30, 2012 and thereby transferred the management authority of wolves (outside Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, the Wind River Reservation, and the National Elk Refuge) to the State of Wyoming. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has sole management authority of wildlife in Wyoming and is uniquely qualifed to monitor and manage wolves throughout Wyoming. The Department is well-funded and has qualified biologists to successfully manage wolves and maintain the Wyoming portion of the NRM wolf population well-above recovery goals.
