Under “USAID/India’s Development Objectives and Priority Sectors,” – CLIMATE CHANGE section (page#3), delete in its entirety and replace with:

“USAID/India will contribute to India’s climate change goals by supporting activities that focus on conservation and management of forest resources and clean energy (both renewables and energy efficiency), while identifying and scaling up innovations that support low carbon growth.
• USAID’s clean energy programs will look to support innovative solutions for to off-grid renewable energy, with the goal of helping 1,000,000 more Indians gain access to electricity.
• USAID’s forestry programs will support innovative approaches to forest conservation and management, with the ultimate goal of enhancing carbon sequestration and/or carbon removals. Mission will encourage innovative solutions and multi-stakeholder partnerships that have the potential for adoption and scale up by Government of India and other key players in the forestry sector in India. Concept notes that address the following are strongly encouraged:(1) Innovative solutions that meet the fuel wood requirement of the forest-dependent communities while maintaining the integrity of the forest ecosystems; (2) Sustainable forest based enterprises that promote local livelihoods as well as enhance forest conservation”.
