| Description: | USAID/India is inviting applications from eligible Local Indigenous (Indian) organizations to implement USAIDs READ Alliance Program. This program aims to: (1) create a platform or network of public and private sector partners dedicated to improving early grade reading in India; and (2) develop and manage an innovation challenge, or competition, to identify and support the scale up of early grade reading innovations. Together, these will form the READ (Read, Engage, Achieve, Dream) Alliance. The overall goals of READ Alliance is to: 1) spur an early grade reading movement in India by stimulating increased attention, resources, and more focused efforts on improving early grade reading performance in India; and 2) complement the efforts of the Millennium Alliance and other USAID/India early grade reading activities to improve the reading skills of at least five million Indian primary school children. |
