The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through its Science to Achieve Results (STAR) program, is seeking applications for research grants. This funding opportunity aims to investigate black carbon (BC), related co-pollutants, and other short-lived climate forcers (SLCF) and their comprehensive effects on climate change and air quality. Research interests include exploring emission sources, developing global to local scale emission inventories, and applying modeling tools to assess these pollutants. Additionally, proposals may evaluate the impact of long-range transport or develop metrics for comparing BC, co-pollutants, and SLCF impacts on climate and air quality over decadal to centennial timescales. Opportunities are also available for early career projects.

| Description: | Grants awarded may generate geospatial information. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as part of its Science to Achieve Results (STAR) program, is seeking applications proposing research into black carbon (BC), related co-pollutants, and other short lived climate forcers (SLCF) and their effects on climate change and air quality. EPA is interested in research that investigates the emission sources, the global to local scale emissions inventory, and applies modeling tools to assess BC, co-pollutants and other SLCF in a climate and air quality context. Applications may also evaluate the impact of long range transport of BC, co-pollutants and SLCF, or develop and assess metrics for comparing the impacts of BC, co-pollutants and SLCF simultaneously in a climate and air quality context on the time scale of a decade to a century.
In addition to regular awards, this solicitation includes the opportunity for early career projects. Please see section III of this Request for Applications (RFA) for details on the early career eligibility criteria. |
