Additional Information

Agency Name: Bureau of Ocean Energy Management
Description: As a component of the National Offshore Sand Inventory, this research will combine new and existing geological and geophysical Outer Continental Shelf data to develop assessments of sand and gravel resources available for protection of communities and critical infrastructure from future coastal storms across a multi-State region. Specifically, the study will help in understanding the geologic evolution of coastal systems on teh inner and mid-shelf enviornments offshore of the State of Mississippi by collecting additional geophysical and geotechnical data in areas with significant data gaps. This understanding will enhance coastal restoration nourishment assessments. Datasets will be housed in authoriative Marine Minerals Informatin System and shared with state resource agencies, Federal partners (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Geological Survey, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), and other stakeholders.
