This grant is for the purpose of supporting the future development of the National Internet Crimes Against Children Data System (NIDS), as mandated by the PROTECT Act. The Department of Justice, in partnership with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement, is offering this grant to advance NIDS. The system will enable credentialed users to contribute and access data to resolve case conflicts, facilitate online undercover investigations of child exploitation, and streamline national case reporting. Additionally, NIDS will allow for real-time data analysis to identify targets and estimate the scope of law enforcement efforts against child exploitation, thereby strengthening national response capabilities.
