The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Environmental Studies Program (ESP) is offering a cooperative agreement opportunity to the University of California, Santa Barbara. This grant specifically targets research titled ‘Understanding the Role of Offshore Structures in Managing Potential Watersipora Invasions,’ supporting safe and environmentally sound energy and mineral production on the nation’s Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). This initiative aligns with the BOEM’s mandate to balance economic development, energy independence, and environmental protection through critical environmental and socioeconomic studies, as required by the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act. Total funding of up to $2.7 million is available for Fiscal Year 2013 projects, which must commence before September 30, 2013. It’s important to note this is not an open solicitation but a specific award, involving substantial BOEM scientific collaboration.
