This site is accessible by Metro on the Blue, Orange, Green, and Yellow lines at the Seventh Street and Maryland Avenue exit of the L’Enfant Plaza station. Individuals interested in attending this meeting must register no later than June 11, 2010 by e-mailing their name, organization, and contact information with “PRE-APPLICATION MEETING” in the subject line to FSCS@ed.gov. Purpose of Program: The Fund for the Improvement of Education (FIE), which is authorized by section 5411 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA), supports nationally significant programs to improve the quality of elementary and secondary education at the State and local levels and help all children meet challenging academic content and academic achievement standards. The Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) program, which is funded under FIE, encourages coordination of academic, social, and health services through partnerships between (1) Public elementary and secondary schools; (2) the schools’ local educational agencies (LEAs); and (3) community-based organizations, nonprofit organizations, and other public or private entities. The purpose of this collaboration is to provide comprehensive academic, social, and health services for students, students’ family members, and community members that will result in improved educational outcomes for children. The Full-Service Community Schools program is a “place-based” program (see http:// Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Number: 84.215J. Applications for grants under the Full-Service Community Schools program–CFDA Number 84.215J must be submitted electronically using e-Application, accessible through the Department’s e-Grants Web site at: http://e-grants.ed.gov.
