Additional Information

Agency Name: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description: The USFWS is not seeking applications. The USFWS plans to award this grant agreement under the Department Manual 505-2, using 2.14B(1) to justify a single source award – to the National Audubon Society. 2.14B(1) Unsolicited Proposal – the proposed award is the result of an unsolicited assistance application which represents a unique or innovative idea, method, or approach which is not the subject of a current or planned contract or assistance award but which is deemed advantageous to the program objectives.

The National Audubon Society (Audubon) and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) propose TogetherGreen Youth as a national leadership program designed to offer young people hands-on, real-world opportunities to learn about environmental issues, develop leadership skills, and become mentors, applying their environmental knowledge to engage others in understanding and caring for the environment. The basics of the program include training educators, hands-on career training for students focused on restoring habitat, educational outreach and mentoring skills and educational programming for younger students focused on service learning projects and connecting to nature through experiential learning at nearby nature centers and refuges.

The funding for TogetherGreen Youth will provide a needed partnership to meet the demands of the Department’s initiatives.
