The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) is offering the R01 grant to fund interdisciplinary formative research projects. This grant is for exploring the neurological basis of HIV/AIDS risk avoidance decision-making among young adolescents. Projects should investigate neurocognitive variables and consider social, gender, and cultural constructs in relation to adolescent development. The goal is to develop more effective HIV prevention interventions by integrating neurocognitive understanding with social and cultural factors. A total of $2.6 Million is committed for FY2011, with an anticipation of funding 4-6 projects through this mechanism.
