Description: Purpose. The goal of the Outstanding New Environmental Scientist Award is to identify and attract outstanding new environmental health researchers and encourage their early transition to independence. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) targets exceptionally talented early stage investigators who intend to make a long-term career commitment to research in the mission areas of the NIEHS and assist them in launching an innovative research program focusing on problems of environmental exposures and human biology, human pathophysiology and human disease.
Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism and is intended for Early Stage Investigators.
Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. For this funding opportunity, budgets up to $ 400,000 direct costs per year in years one and two, and up to $275,000 in years 3-5 and time periods up to 5 years may be requested.
