This grant, offered by the Administration for Community Living (ACL)/U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA), is for eligible state agencies to establish and enhance Lifespan Respite Care systems, in accordance with the Lifespan Respite Care Act of 2006. Funds are intended for planning, implementing new or expanded emergency respite services, training and recruiting respite workers and volunteers, and improving caregiver access to vital services. Up to five new states can receive awards of up to $200,000 for a 36-month period. Eligibility is limited to state agencies administering Older Americans Act or Social Security Act Title XIX programs, or gubernatorial designees, who are also aging and disability resource centers collaborating with a state respite coalition and have not previously received program funding between FYs 2009-2012.
