Description: USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research titled “Investigating Potential Climate Change Impacts on the Upper Colorado River Fish Fauna; An Aquatic Ecology Investigation to Support the Sothern Rockies Landscape Conservation Cooperative”
Research Objectives include:
• Investigate the current and projected impacts of climate change on the ichthyofauna of the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB)
• Examine historic and current spatial patterns and occurrence of native and non-native fishes relative to thermal regimes in UCRB streams
• Model thermal resources in main rivers of the UCRB to gain understanding of preferred thermal requirements
• Describe current and future fish distribution in the UCRB under a variety of climate change scenarios
• Determine zones of overlap for native and nonnative fishes
• Provide land managers with information that will help protect fish communities in the UCRB
