| Description: | Objectives of this Cooperative Agreement are:
To survey, inventory, characterize, document and collect paleontological resources on JOTR lands. Characterization should include type and nature of paleontological resources, location and distribution, association with various lithologies and other information as appropriate. To prioritize paleontological localities for protection and preservation. To develop and assess alternatives for protection, preservation, and collection of paleontological resources on JOTR lands. To collect, document and preserve paleontological resources on JOTR lands in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies guiding NPS management and natural and cultural resource compliance. Paleontological resources are an integral and non-renewable part of our natural heritage. Their proper documentation and recovery is critical for our understanding of the history of life, and the long-term preservation and preservation of their scientific, interpretive, and educational values. |
