Description:

The purpose of this Cooperative Agreement (CA or Agreement) is to provide the Recipient with resources to collect and analyze motor vehicle safety data consistent with NHTSA’s records-based data collection programs:

The Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), a census of all police-reported fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States (50 States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico), where crash information is analyzed, coded, and stored in NHTSA’s Records-Based Information Solution (RBIS). Also, FARS collects and enters fatalities resulting from non-traffic fatal crashes information in RBIS;

The Crash Report Sampling System (CRSS), a sample of police-reported crashes involving motor vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, ranging from non-traffic crash injuries to property-damage-only crashes, and to those that result in fatalities.
