Subject to the availability of funds, the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), will award a cooperative agreement for a project to reduce the worst forms of child labor in the home-based production of carpets in Afghanistan by designing and piloting a sustainable social compliance system in collaboration with at least one partner company. The project funded as a result of this cooperative agreement will focus on addressing child labor in at least one district of Afghanistan in which there is evidence of a high prevalence of child labor in home-based carpet weaving workplaces. The Office of Procurement Services (OPS) anticipates publishing the Solicitation for Grant Applications (SGA) on or about May 31, 2013 (this date is subject to change).
