This grant from the Dakotas Area Office (Reclamation) to the University of North Dakota, Department of Anthropology, supports Class III intensive pedestrian surveys. Its purpose is to identify and record prehistoric archaeological sites on selected Reclamation-owned lands and easements within the Fort Clark Irrigation District. While the district’s historic engineering features are documented, this project targets prehistoric heritage. It also functions as an archaeological field school, providing students with hands-on instruction in field methods. This initiative aims to enhance regional archaeological understanding and equip future professionals with practical skills.
