The BLM OR/WA department is offering this grant to provide opportunities for teachers and other educators to explore and utilize the ‘Alien Invasion: Plants on the Move’ curriculum. This grant is for the purpose of building conceptual and concrete understanding, knowledge, and skills regarding the impact of weeds on natural resources among K-12 educators in Oregon. Participants will engage with local resource managers and identify community-based projects for service learning opportunities. The implementation will be accomplished through two week-long Summer Institutes and five one-day Sponsored Workshops. This initiative directly supports the Bureau’s ‘Partners Against Weeds Strategy and Action Plan,’ particularly aligning with goals for Prevention and Detection, and Education and Awareness.
