This grant is for the purpose of significantly improving the capacity of States to accurately collect and report data, fulfilling their obligations under sections 616 and 618 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Authorized by section 611(c)(1) of the IDEA, this program allows the Secretary to allocate funds for essential technical assistance (TA). This TA is designed to bolster States’ data collection and analysis capabilities, ensuring that all information vital for the effective implementation of IDEA is diligently gathered, thoroughly analyzed, and precisely reported. The Secretary is responsible for reviewing State data practices and providing targeted assistance as needed, ultimately strengthening States’ ability to meet critical IDEA data requirements and enhance services for individuals with disabilities.
