These projects cover a range of disciplines, including hydrology, soil science, water quality management, toxicology, renewable energy development, conservation of biological diversity, and quantification of the value of ecosystem services. Current projects involve (1) baseline development for landscape management for the Cache Creek Wilderness; and (2) remediation and restoration technologies for remediation of waterways downstream of the abandoned mercury mines. Both projects are located in Lake County, California. In the coming years, the BLM will develop projects in the areas of expertise listed in this and other locations in California, depending on the funding available and agency need.
