Introduction:

The Bophelo Bo Botle activity is intended to support the Government of Lesotho (GOL) to improve

health outcomes through the delivery high-quality integrated people-centered prevention, care and

treatment services that will sustain HIV and TB epidemic control and reduce morbidity & mortality from

preventable communicable & non-communicable diseases, including emerging public health threats in

the districts of Maseru, Thaba Tseka, Mafeteng, and Mohale’s Hoek. Bophelo Bo Botle activity is aligned

to the USAID/Southern Africa Regional Development Strategy, the PEPFAR 5X3 strategic framework for

ending AIDS by 2030, and the new GOL National Health Sector Strategic Plans. Inter-partner

coordination with existing PEPFAR above-site implementing partners, other donor-funded programs,

local faith and community-based organizations, and other local stakeholder is critical for program

success.

This activity will focus on three main overarching strategic priorities:

a. Optimizing Clinical Service Delivery to improve access, quality, and utilization of integrated health

services at the facility and community levels using a primary health care approach.

b. Health systems strengthening support at district, facility, and community levels.

c. Sustaining Local Capacity: Technical Assistance to enhance local capacity, ownership and

governance frameworks that sustain enabling policy environments, transparency, accountability,

and resource mobilization.

Target populations are children, adolescents, youth, adults, pregnant and breastfeeding women, key

populations, and communities in the Bophelo Bo Botle focus districts. Secondary target populations are

health service providers at facility & community levels, private sector, faith- & community-based

organizations, and policy makers at national and sub-national levels.
