Description: Purpose. The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development invite multidisciplinary investigator-initiated grant applications to identify and elucidate molecular mechanisms of adverse metabolic effects of drugs used in children and adolescents. Multidisciplinary collaborations between basic and physician scientists are encouraged.

Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism.

Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. NICHD intends to commit $2.0 million (total costs) in FY 2011 to support this FOA.Budgets up to $250,000 in direct costs per year and time periods up to five years may be requested.The anticipated number of awards is five.

Budget and Project Period. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will vary.Although the financial plans of the IC(s) provide support for this initiative, awards pursuant to this funding opportunity are contingent upon the availability of funds.
