Additional Information

Agency Name: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description: The objective of this agreement is to coordinate partnership activities for the Great Plains Landscape Conservation Cooperative. Landscape Conservation Cooperatives are science partnerships focused on defined geographic areas that inform on-the-ground strategic conservation at landscape scales. The Playa Lakes Joint Venture is uniquely suited to coordinate the GPLCC for several reasons. The boundary for the GPLCC matches perfectly the current Playa Lakes Joint Venture administrative boundary in the states of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Including the collaborative relationship Playa Lakes Joint Venture has with Rainwater Basin Joint Venture in Nebraska, the match is nearly 100 percent. Nearly 75 percent of the entities desired to be on the LCC steering committee already sit on the Playa Lakes Joint Venture Management Board. Most of the current partners that the FWS desires on a Steering Committee also want the Playa Lakes Joint Venture to coordinate the LCC. With Playa Lakes Joint Venture acting to coordinate the GPLCC, energy and dollars can be focused on success rather that tending two entities.
