Additional Information on Eligibility: Applications may be submitted by State agricultural experiment stations, land-grant colleges and universities, research foundations established by land grant colleges and universities, colleges and universities receiving funds under the Act of October 10, 1962 (16 U.S.C. 582a et seq.), and accredited schools or colleges of veterinary medicine, for the purpose of facilitating or expanding ongoing State-Federal food and agricultural research programs.

Description: NIFA requests applications for the Interregional Research Project #4 Minor Crop Pest Management Program (IR-4) for fiscal year (FY) 2011. The primary goal of the IR-4 program is to provide safe, effective and economical pest management solutions for growers of minor/specialty crops. For FY 2011, NIFA is soliciting applications in anticipation of funding five projects: one to establish a national headquarters and four to establish geographically-based regional IR-4 centers (three with analytical chemistry programs and one without an analytical chemistry program). The four USDA administrative regions (North Central, Northeastern, Southern, and Western) are described by state/territory at the end of Part I, B. NIFA anticipates that the amount available for support of this program in FY 2011 will be approximately $11 million.
