This grant is for the purpose of improving reading outcomes for pre-primary and lower primary school learners who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) in Rwanda by the end of Primary 3. Offered by USAID/Rwanda, the “Strengthening Equitable Education for the Deaf (SEED) Activity” aims to enhance parental, community, and youth capacity to support Rwandan Sign Language (RSL) acquisition and literacy. It also seeks to improve access to quality, relevant bilingual RSL teaching methodologies for literacy. Furthermore, the grant will strengthen national and decentralized Government of Rwanda systems to better serve D/HH learners, fostering more equitable educational opportunities.
