The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) is offering an open-source competition for organizations to propose research projects. This grant is for building a robust evidence portfolio aimed at identifying effective strategies for democracy and human rights programs. Specifically, projects should cultivate the use of sound evidence and generate findings with recommendations to counter global trends in democratic erosion and autocracy. DRL seeks to partner with a consortium to provide research support, helping students, scholars, funders, and practitioners understand these global trends. The ultimate purpose is to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of the Department’s foreign assistance efforts by identifying impactful program and policy recommendations against democratic backsliding.
