This grant is for the purpose of restoring 750 acres of vital shortgrass and mixed-grass prairie ecosystems across nine National Park Service units situated in five states. The initiative aims to develop comprehensive management plans and significantly build park and regional expertise in native prairie restoration, leveraging ongoing conservation efforts. National experts from the University of Texas at Austin’s Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center will play a crucial role by assessing initial site conditions and formulating detailed restoration plans for specific parks, including Lake Meredith NRA, San Antonio Missions NHS, and Pecos National Historical Park. This collaborative project will enhance ecological health and biodiversity within these crucial national park landscapes.
