The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is offering this grant to fund research exploring how dietary factors influence human health effects from environmental exposures. This grant is for institutions and organizations to develop and test hypotheses relating diet to the development or progression of diseases caused by toxicants. The primary purpose of this research program is to generate new findings that enhance our understanding of how environmental toxicants and diet/nutrition interact to affect human health. Ultimately, this will enable the creation of effective primary prevention and intervention strategies aimed at mitigating environmentally-induced diseases, fostering healthier outcomes for individuals exposed to environmental hazards.
