This NIH-sponsored Lasker Clinical Research Scholars Program grant supports early-stage independent clinical researchers. It offers a unique bridge between NIH’s intramural and extramural research communities. In the initial phase, scholars receive appointments for 5-7 years as tenure-track investigators within the NIH Intramural Research Program, complete with independent research budgets. Following this, successful scholars become eligible to apply for up to five years of NIH support for their research at an extramural facility. Alternatively, they may also be considered to continue as investigators within the intramural program. This program is designed to foster the next generation of clinical research leaders.
