The National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program (NCGMP) offers the STATEMAP grant, a crucial initiative to establish the geologic framework of areas vital to the economic, social, or scientific welfare of individual U.S. States. This grant is designed to address both broad, multiple-issue needs and compelling single-issue requirements for geologic-map information. State Geologists, working in consultation with a multi-representational State Mapping Advisory Committee, play a key role in determining mapping priorities. These priorities are strategically set based on state-specific requirements for geologic-map data, especially where mapping is essential to solve critical earth-science problems, ensuring effective resource allocation.
