The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is offering a cooperative agreement grant to establish and operate a National Bicycle and Pedestrian Clearinghouse. This grant is for an organization to develop and disseminate vital information, educational programs, techniques, and strategies focused on improving bicycle and pedestrian safety. As mandated by the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act (SAFETEA-LU), the clearinghouse will actively support communities nationwide in making walking and bicycling more convenient and secure. This initiative, which aligns with the US Department of Transportation’s emphasis on integrating active transportation into all projects, will replace the existing Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC), ensuring continued support for safer pedestrian and cycling activities.
