Additional Information

Agency Name: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Description: The purpose of this program is to continue support for implementation of comprehensive and quality HIV prevention, care and support activities. Through this funding announcement, CDC proposes to establish a five-year cooperative agreement with an experienced partner to continue support for HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) and Male Circumcision (MC) services in Tanzania. HCT support will cover five regions in Tanzania (Kigoma, Mwanza, Mara, Shinyanga, and Arusha) and MC will support one region (Shinyanga) with high HIV prevalence and low MC rates. Sites are considered by a consultation with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) and National AIDS Control Program (NACP). Services are provided in part by district public health facilities. Services may include Provider-Initiated Counseling and Testing (PITC) and other community-based activities like mobile HCT services and MC campaigns. Both will require close collaboration with the MOHSW/NACP at a central level, as well as within the regions and districts supported. Sites may be expanded or reduced in later years of award depending on MOSHW and NACP discretion.
