Additional Information

Agency Name: National Institutes of Health
Description: This initiative seeks to foster research targeting the reduction and elimination of mental health disparities by racial and ethnic groups, geographical settings, and socioeconomic status in the United States. It solicits research projects using the R01 mechanism to aggregate and examine existing data sets to increase understanding of mental health disparities and how to intervene to reduce mental health disparities and achieve mental health equity across the lifespan. This includes examining: 1) factors that contribute to, exacerbate and reduce disparities at multiple levels (e.g., policy, community, school, family, individual) at different developmental stages; 2) etiology and trajectories; and 3) prevention and treatment interventions and services and their implementation and dissemination. NIH-designated U.S. health disparity populations include Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, American Indians/Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, underserved rural populations, and sexual and gender minorities (NOT-OD-15-089).
