Project Title: Sedimentation and Paleoflood Investigations for Fluvial, Coastal and Estuarine Systems

Responses to this Request for Statements of Interest will be used to identify potential investigators for a project to be funded by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District which provides professional and technical support for its Flood Risk Management (FRM) and navigation and environmental restoration projects (ER) in order to facilitate successful implementation of 10 U.S.C. § 2358 Research and Development, UAI Part 5101.

Approximately $50,000 is expected to be available to support this project. Additional funding may be available for follow on work in subsequent fiscal years to the successful Recipient.

Background: Sedimentation processes are integral factors influencing the state, function, and resiliency of an array of flood risk management (FRM), navigation and environmental restoration (ER) projects.

Brief Description of Anticipated Work:

This research focuses on the following objectives:

Tasks 1: Identify boring locations within area of interest.

Task 2: Field Data Collection

Task 3: Data Analysis

Task 4: Identify a reservoir within the Galveston district to perform the analysis on.

Task 5: Provide a spatial sedimentation rate for the reservoirs

Note: A full study proposal and proposed budget are NOT requested at this time.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

Base Effort – The work will begin from the date of award and extend 12 months.

Follow-on Agreement Periods or Tasks – specific tasks for periods or tasks will be based on future Research and Development needs.
