This Notice of Funding Opportunity invites applications for the development of Diagnostic Centers of Excellence (DCEs). The primary role of a DCE is to bolster a crucial aspect of diagnostic care within integrated, cross-disciplinary health systems. Each successful DCE will specialize in one or two critical areas aimed at enhancing diagnostic improvement. There are four distinct areas of focus delineated by this grant. Two of these areas are specifically tailored to support frontline diagnosticians, encompassing Safety-I error detection and prevention, and fostering Safety-II resilience for safe practice. The two additional focus areas are designed to improve broader diagnostic systems, by enhancing diagnostic precision through consensus-building and improving the accuracy of truth or diagnostic reference standards. This initiative seeks to significantly advance diagnostic safety and quality nationwide.
