This grant is for establishing a long-term partnership with the BLM to enhance cultural resource management in Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, including the Black Mountain Archaeological District. Its primary purpose is to conduct comprehensive geophysical investigations of rock shelters and associated sites. This research will assist the BLM in locating, recording, evaluating, and stabilizing vital cultural resources on public lands. Complementing existing efforts, the project aims to facilitate robust management and protection of these archaeological assets. Awarded as a single cooperative agreement, it provides approximately $55,000 over five years to safeguard Wyoming’s cultural heritage.
