This Health Research Department is offering the Mentored Career Enhancement Grant to support experienced investigators. This grant is for the purpose of enabling cross-disciplinary training and fostering collaborations for comparative studies of human and nonhuman primate life spans, specifically focusing on aging and longevity. It aims to broaden researchers’ expertise. Eligible applicants, at associate or full professor level, should acquire new knowledge in fields like comparative biology of aging, evolutionary genetics, or primatology, ideally distinct from their current specialization. The objective is to augment or redirect existing research programs, enhancing capabilities for innovative comparative primate research.

Description: | This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) invites applications from experienced investigators for mentored career enhancement awards for cross-disciplinary training to broaden and strengthen the investigator’s capability to lead future comparative studies of the factors contributing to differences in life spans between human and nonhuman primate species. This opportunity will provide support for experienced investigators in pertinent fields to 1) augment or redirect their research program by acquiring expertise in other fields related to comparative primate research and aging and 2) develop collaborations with research fields with which they do not commonly interact. Pertinent fields of cross-training for this NOFO include comparative biology of aging, evolutionary genetics, evolutionary biology, anthropology, primatology, and human longevity studies. Specific emphasis for this NOFO will be on cross-training independent investigators in a substantially different area of study than their current field of study in one or more of the above scientific disciplines. An academic rank of associate or full professor, or the equivalent in non-academic research settings, is required for eligibility for this award. |
