The Department of Defense Neurofibromatosis Research Program (NFRP) offers this Clinical Trial Award to advance understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of Neurofibromatosis (NF) and Schwannomatosis, aiming to eradicate their clinical impact. This grant supports clinical trials with the potential for major impact on treatment or management. A clinical trial is defined as prospective accrual of human subjects, testing interventions (e.g., device, drug, biologic, surgical procedure, behavioral intervention) for measurable outcomes (exploratory, safety, effectiveness, or efficacy) that directly affect the human subject. Funds are strictly for clinical trials, excluding preclinical research.

| Description: | The Neurofibromatosis Research Program (NFRP) was established in 1996 to promote the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of neurofibromatosis (NF). The vision of the FY11 NFRP is to find and fund the best research to eradicate the clinical impact of NF. The NFRP Clinical Trial Award supports research with the potential to have a major impact on the treatment or management of NF or Schwannomatosis. Funding from this award mechanism must support a clinical trial and cannot be used for preclinical research studies. A clinical trial is defined as a prospective accrual of human subjects where an intervention (e.g., device, drug, biologic, surgical procedure, rehabilitative modality, behavioral intervention, or other) is tested on a human subject for a measurable outcome with respect to exploratory information, safety, effectiveness, and/or efficacy. This outcome represents a direct effect on the human subject of that intervention or interaction. |
