This grant is for the purpose of employing up to 14 diverse youth, working 30 hours weekly during summer and winter, to contribute to park maintenance projects and gain hands-on cultural stewardship experience at National Park Service sites. Participants will also develop an understanding of the NPS core mission by visiting various sites and provide essential supplemental interpretive programming for visitors. This initiative also funds a dedicated work leader to guide day-to-day activities and a Cultural Resources support position, ultimately allowing sites normally closed due to staffing limitations to open, enhancing visitor access and engagement.
