Additional Information

Agency Name: National Park Service
Description: The GGNRA comprises over 80,000 acres of interlocking local, state, and national parks and private lands and shares park borders with several land management agencies and entities. To provide vital visitor outreach, wayfinding and interpretative and informational signs need to be installed at various waypoints such as trail and road junctions, historic sites, and visitor centers. Due to changing legislation and enforcement policies, many regulatory signs have to be periodically updated to reflect the management strategy of the GGNRA parklands. Without posted regulatory signage most Park Law enforcement officers and field staff have difficulty enforcing regulatory policies such as, hiking only trails, dogs on leash, etc. The subsequent redesign of signage is often a task that is intermittent and requires someone who has the technical knowledge of design software specific to shared GGNRA/GGNPC sign designs. This Task agreement project will assist by providing GGNPC technical experts that are proficient in the design software to assist in collaboratively producing improved signage for GGNRA as needed.
Another objective of this Task Agreement is to fund joint GGNPC/GGNRA sign improvement programs by assisting N.P.S. staff with wayfinding and regulatory sign maintenance and repair services. Work accomplished by the partnership will benefit the park visitors and general public by maintaining high quality and clarity on all park wayfinding and regulatory signage through public lands. The opportunity to jointly fund positions between GGNPC and GGNRA will provide opportunities for collaboration between the two organizations and better utilize staffs collective valuable experience in signage systems, public land management and maintenance.
