Additional Information on Eligibility: The United States Department of the Interior, The National Park Service (NPS), and Great Smoky Mountain National Park, is announcing a notice of intent to award to award a cooperative agreement; this is not a request for applications. This funding opportunity is to provide public notice of NPS’s intention to fund the following project activities without full and open competition, under Cooperative Agreement P15AC00033 with Appalachian State University, for a project titled; Archeology Site Stabilization

Description: Two youth with education in archeology will be employed to complete emergency stabilization treatment of archeological sites on Great Smoky Mountain lands within the perimeters of the 2016 Chimney Tops Two and Cobbly Knob fires. Work is intended to mitigate the adverse effect to cultural resources and/or loss of cultural information. Work will include initial assessment of each site to determine the appropriate stabilization measures to be taken. Stabilization measures are anticipated to include removal of fire-killed trees, seeding areas with park approved seed mix, and scattering of woody debris/organic material at sites with steep slopes.
