The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is offering this grant to establish Pediatric Centers of Excellence in Nephrology. This grant is for supporting new and renewal applications focused on basic and clinical research into pediatric kidney disease. The program aims to attract new scientific expertise to study basic mechanisms of kidney disorders in infants, children, and adolescents, while also encouraging multidisciplinary research into disease causes. It seeks to explore novel basic areas with potential clinical application and to fund Developmental Research/Pilot and Feasibility studies. These studies are designed to foster innovative approaches to pediatric kidney disease research, ultimately leading to competitive investigator-initiated R01 grant submissions.
