This grant aims to provide the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), California Energy Commission (CEC), California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG), and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) with a high-quality environmental analysis. The scope covers 22 million acres of the Mojave and Colorado deserts in southern California, including 10 million acres of BLM-managed public lands. A joint Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR) will be developed in compliance with both NEPA and CEQA standards, supporting federal and state decision-making processes. The resulting DRECP products, potential CDCA Plan amendment, and EIS/EIR will ensure consistent and defensible analysis for renewable energy siting, mitigation, conservation, landscape-level monitoring, and adaptive management in the southern California desert region.
